Mastering the Pre-Op Low-Calorie Diet (VLCD): 5 Hacks for Success

Embracing the pre-surgery VLCD is an effect way to jump start your health journey and safely prepare for weight loss surgery.  While the prospect of the diet might seem daunting, implementing these strategic hacks can make the experience more manageable and rewarding. Let's explore how you can navigate a pre-op diet with ease and achieve your goals.

1. Stay Hydrated: Drinking enough water is essential for any diet, but it's especially crucial on a VLCD. Water helps control hunger, supports digestion, and can even boost your metabolism. Aim for at least 8 glasses of water daily and consider herbal teas or infused water for variety.

2. Add a little texture: added crushed ice to your shake can be simple, yet effective way to enhance both the taste and texture of your shake. It can even make you feel fuller for long! Or why not freeze shakes into icy poles!

3. Re-think your mealtimes: try delaying your first shake until mid-morning if you’re not much of a breakfast person. Or why not try chopping up the VLCD bars into small bit sized pieces to snack on (cut up only one bar at a time to avoid exceeding the daily allowance)

4. Mindset and Support: Maintaining a positive mindset is crucial during any weight loss journey. Surround yourself with a support system of friends, family, or even online communities that share your goals. Celebrate your achievements, no matter how small, and focus on the progress you're making.

5. Get creative with your allowable vegetables; Try adding these to broth during the winter months. Or cut up vegetable stick to snack on when you feel like you need something to crunch! Check out free recipe e-book for a variety of tasty recipes that utilise the allowable vegetables while on the pre-surgery diet.
